I started FreePressXpress.com in the months after the 2016 U.S. elections.
I had become distressed by the bitter and destructive tone of political discourse in the U.S. main stream media and I hoped to create a website that curated informed and civil commentary from independent journalists from across the political spectrum.
Soon after, I found myself drawn to stories that were anti-war and anti-war corruption, regardless of political affiliation. After linking to hundreds of stories and garnering thousands of visitors over the last few months, I have concluded that all americans of every political background are equally to blame for today’s toxic public discourse.
I could have picked a side and turned freepressxpress.com into a firehose of clickbait catering to niche political views. I would not have been alone with that choice. Any sufficiently animated sub-group could have yielded enough traffic on the website to generate a modest income for me to support my family. But that would not have been honest or helpful, so I instead have abandoned the project and I will move on to other things.
Since I have already paid for hosting for the remainder of the year, I have linked to publicly posted clips of music that support the only message that will help us now: a new, global peace movement that begins with each and every one of us offering forgiveness and compassion to our fellow man.
What the world needs now is love.
